One of my first DIY posts almost a year ago was an Artsy House created in Photoshop Elements. It’s time to create a new one to match the colors in my redecorated living room.
I decided to make this one on the website PicMonkey.com for those of you who do not have Photoshop. Everything in this tutorial can be done with the free tools on PicMonkey. I’m assuming a basic knowledge of these tools, but if you need more instruction, feel free to ask in the comment section.
The first step is open your picture in PicMonkey and crop it.
For an 8X10, check the scale photo box and choose no fixed proportions, with 3000X2400 for actual size dimensions.
The next step is to add text by choosing Tt on the left side. I used the Chelsea Market font and sized the verse name a little smaller than the verse.
The last step is to add an artsy effect. I wanted something a little calmer than my Photoshop Artsy House, so I chose PicMonkey’s Posterize effect. You can get to it by choosing the option on the left that looks like a wand below the crop symbol.
I set the number of colors to 30 and the detail to 57%. You can play around with these numbers to get the effect you want.
Save it to your computer, print it out, and put it in your favorite 8X10 frame. This would also be a great personalized gift for someone!
Here’s mine in a frame that will soon be painted to match the font color and blend with its new surroundings beautifully…
